McCracken County Master Gardeners Association was
formerly Purchase Area Master Gardeners (PAMGA.)
Under the direction of the University of Kentucky Extension Service, PAMGA was formed in 1998
to serve the seven most western counties in Kentucky. Over time gardeners from
Southern Illinois and Western Tennessee have taken the course and become
certified Master Gardeners. The McCracken County Master Gardeners Association
will continue to promote and help implement the mission of the Kentucky
Cooperative Extension Service Master Gardener volunteer program by providing
horticultural information and training to educate the gardening public based on
proven research specific to the local climate, soils, and plants.
One of the main focuses of the organization is the University of Kentucky Demonstration and
Trial Garden, located in Paducah, KY. The Extension Office and trial garden
is in the process of moving to a new location in McCracken County. With the
move came the Master Gardener name change from PAMGA to MCMGA.
